As of July 01, 1995, Alberta Health Care DOES NOT fund physical therapy treatment. All funding for this service has been transferred to the CRHA (Calgary Regional Health Authority). Individuals involved in a motor vehicle accident or work injury (A claim that has been accepted by WCB) are exempt from this coverage. If a patient has a current Alberta Health Care Number, they may be able to access the publicly funded system (CRHA).
The decision to have your treatment funded depends on two factors:
| 1) Your assessment: |
This is decided following the assessment by
the physical therapist. |
| 2) Funding Availability: |
Funding under this program is severely limited and funding varies from clinic to clinic. |
The physical therapist makes this decision following the assessment. The initial evaluation is covered by the CRHA, however, if the patient does not qualify for CRHA funding, a $50.00 fee may be charged if treatment is received on that visit. Ongoing treatment may result in a private fee of $50.00 (15 minute one to one session) or $80.00 (30 minute one to one session).
For more information please call the CRHA at 531-8080 to request a brochure.
