WCB (WORKERS COMPENSATION BOARD) CLAIMS

With our commitment to work related injuries we have a program which combines the inter-related disciplines of sports medicine, occupational medicine, physical therapy, ergonomic analysis and work conditioning. We use state of the art equipment and skilled physicians, physical therapists, kinesiologists, massage therapists and assistants in the prevention and treatment of work related injuries.

In order to have WCB pay for your therapy costs you need to have the appropriate forms completed by your physician (family doctor), your place of work and your place of therapy. It can take a while for the WCB to accept your claim and therefore be aware that you may be in physiotherapy treatment a number of weeks before you know if the WCB will cover your physiotherapy costs. In preparation, if the WCB does not accept your claim, you will want to check into any health insurance plans you may have to see if they cover physiotherapy treatment.

Back injuries: the workers biggest foe

Back injuries are one of the most common overexertion injuries in the workplace. Calgary Sport Physiotherapy offers unique and effective treatment programs for treating back injuries.

    1) The Spine - We have on staff a number of advanced trained orthopedic manipulative physiotherapists for the treatment and assessment of spine dysfunction. These physiotherapists work with various physicians, orthopedic surgeons and insurance companies in the treatment of patients with back injuries.

    2) Spine Stabilization - The program is designed to educate participants on how their movements and postures contribute to their back pain. Individuals are equipped with the knowledge to reduce their discomfort through exercise with the goal of improving their overall functioning.

    3) Ergonomics - A program where risks within the workplace are objectively identified and job functions are redesigned to reduce physical stresses. As well, job-specific conditioning programs are developed and implemented.
